Expo for Young Scientists
Science Expo competitions are conducted in 3 levels in South Africa namely Thohoyandou District Expo, Capricorn Regional Expo and Eskom National Expo. Every year our learners participate in large numbers in this competition and won many Gold Silver and Bronze medals at all levels.
In 1996 one of our school project named “Triangulating Poygon” got gold medal at the national Expo. It was also qualified to go and represent South Africa in Taiwan at Pacific Expo in March 1997.
The top ten (10) projects qualified to go to the University of Pretoria to participate in the National Science Competitions held from the 26th to the 28th of September 2000 were from our school. One of these projects, namely, “House – hold waste management” qualified to go and represent the Republic of South Africa in France in July 2001.
In 2006, a project named “Bio Diesel” which got Bronze medal at the National Level qualified to represent South Africa at International Expo held in Durban in July 2007.
In 2009, two learners received a prize money of R20000 each for tertiary education at University of Pretoria and another learner received a prize money of R 25000 for the tertiary education at Wits University. A learner named Mudemeli Dakalo from Grade 11 qualified himself to attend “African Science Expo” which will be held in June 2010 at REUNION.
