In 1997 the school received R1000 from Sentrachem and Afrox for obtaining the highest average in Chemistry section of the Science Olympiad and R500 from SA Brewery for highest average mark for to 10 candidates. Because of the best performance in Second round Science Olympiad 1997, the following learner attended RESEARCH WORKSHOP at MIT, USA sponsored by centre of Excellence in Education:

Mbilwi also received a certificate from FEST for the best performance in Science Olympiad examination in the Northern Province.

Who is in charge of conducting Science Olympiad at school was given an opportunity to attend London International Youth Science Forum with top winners of 1999 Science Olympiad.
Our Grade 12 pupil
MUTHAPHULI PHUMUDZO
obtained position 19 in the national level and position 1 in the Northern Province in Science Olympiad 2000.
In 2004, five learners from Grade 12 attended Youth Science Week organized by SAASTA. The school also received a cash prize of R2000 for its performance in the Science Olympiad. A Grade 12 learner RAPHULU RAMBANI attended London International Youth Science Forum from 26 July to 10 August at London because of his best performance in the competition.
In 2005, two hundred and thirty (230) learners participated in the 41st Ispat Iscor National science Olympiad which was held on 09 March 2005. The school had been awarded a cash prize of R2000 for its achievement in the competition. One learner also attended the Youth Science week organized by SAASTA.
In 2006 and 2007, the school had been awarded a cash prize of R3000 which was used for scientific equipments. In 2007,
TAKALANI PHUMUDZO
attended LONDON INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE FORUM from 25 July to 10 August 2007 because of his best performance in 43rd Science Olympiad. TAKALANI PHUMUDZO and
MBUVHA RENDANI
received personal computers as prizes for their excellent performance in Science Olympiad in 2007.
In 2009, Mbilwi received an award of interactive white board, a projector and training worth of R50000 for being the TOP DINALEDI SCHOOL WITH THE MOST PARTICIPANTS.
