Mr. Koto Stanley Thabana

Mr Koto Stanley Thabana (Principal – SASA Combined Independent School)

Mr. KS Thabana joined Mbilwi Secondary School as a Mathematics and Science Teacher in January 1990 and left in December 2000.

Mr. Thabana wa admitted to Mbilwi Secondary School in Grade 11 for half a day (three periods) in January 1979, after short break he asked for a tranfer to Dimani Agricultural High School. When he was in Grade 12 at Dimani Agricultural High School in 1980, Mr. Thabana became the Top Scholar and only winner of the 14th National Youth Science Olympiad from the then Republic of Venda, and qualified to go to London (United KingdoM) for two weeks with 36 other learners form all over South Africa.

He has been the Principal of SASA since January 2001. He is also the Chairperson of Thohoyandou Cluster Expo for Young Scientists committee, also Secretary of Capricorn Eskom Science Expo Committee.

In 1993, 1994 and 1995, he was crowned the 'Best Mathematics Teacher' by NOTMO (Northern Transvaal Mathematics Organisation).

In 1993, Mr. KS Thabana and other educators started Mbilwi Saturday Classes which grew up and gave rise to Mbilwi Winter School from 1996 onwards..

In 2000, Mr Thabana was the winner of Limpopo's Best Mathematics and Science Teacher and also South Africa's National Mathematics and Science Teacher of the Year, awarded by Sowetan-Protec-Telkom Foundation.

Mr. Thabana is also a software designer and developer (programmer) and is the one who desinged and developed this beautiful Mbilwi Secondary School Website.

Mr. KS Thabana is still teaching Mathematics and Phyisical Sciences. He is married with three children.
